What is a slide deck? It is an internal PowerPoint template approved by marketing and legal to be used for both internal and external presentations. Overall, a slide deck is a consistent form of presentation across the company. Slide decks include a style guide, which dictates the font faces, font sizes, colors, and body of the templates that can be used in a company's presentation. Major changes to the PowerPoint template can be done under the slide master tab while daily or short-term changes are made through PowerPoint's design tab. All changes must follow the company's style guide in order to be presented at events. The style guide is the bible for how the presentation looks and is guided by the legal department to ensure the brand's security and consistency. While not all companies use a slide deck, it is a streamlined way of presentation individuals from all walks of life can consider using in the future.

Kristen I think you had the the most useful and most informational presentation from the class thus far. I was able to learn about this slide deck business which I have never heard of and I am a senior at Stockton. It seems that it is easier to use for presentations. My question is why do you think not all companies or institutions do not adopt this visual layout method when it seems straightforward and keeps up with our social media culture?
ReplyDeleteI thought the tool you chose was very interesting, because it was something I have never heard of. Your presentation was very in depth which I liked. I found the style guides particularly interesting. Your presentation made me wonder what percentage of companies have adopted the slide deck tool.
ReplyDeleteKristen, I am from the older generation and not so fluid with network connections in general - I had no idea there even was such a thing as a Slide Deck! This should be advertised allover the place lol. It sounds like it would be important for every individual or company to use. I especially like how you emphasized that the Slide Decks are reviewed by a legal department. I can see this being very important to prevent potential lawsuits. I also like that the slide deck has the option of disability specific slides in regards to color and so on...all in all I can see this slide Deck to be one of the most powerful tools available!
ReplyDeleteThis was another platform that I never heard of before. But it is interesting that it is internally built into powerpoint. Slide Deck seems to be a nice organizing tool for careers. If you’re in the business field and need to present powerpoints, using Slide Deck looks like the way to go.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this before but after watching your presentation and how in depth you went into it I understand it now. It is so cool to see how much you can actually do with a slide show now instead of just picking a theme and being stuck with it.
ReplyDeleteAs another commenter who didn't know about Slide Deck I will definitely be looking into this product to use on future school projects! I was wondering how this compares to Prezi and what would the pros and cons would be between the two. Also found it interesting how the style guide functions for various companies and how it has more of a legal aspect to it by withholding (I'm assuming?) the non-credited photo outside the organization. Definitely very interesting and will look into in my free time!

ReplyDeleteHi kristen, i must say i never heard about this app slide deck. it is very interesting it can come in handy with any of my furture projects i wasnt aware of for my project i used prezi,it kind of does remind me of prezi i love the concept of it and think this will help with furture pitches.

As someone who struggles with technology this app seems easy to manage and I feel as if I should keep this app on my radar for future school projects.
